Tour du Mont Blanc

The Tour du Mont Blanc, or TMB for short,
is the route every hiker in the world dreams of completing at least once in their life.

It loops around Mont Blanc, the highest peak in Europe, crossing three countries: France, Italy and Switzerland.

This time, we are not doing the traditional "power-march TMB".
Terra Wild wants to design it as a journey you can complete without hardcore hiking, with more room left for travel and for yourself.

Our Design Philosophy

01
We don't do a "power-march TMB"
We keep the most classic highlight sections and use cable cars and private transfers to save your energy. Every step is saved for scenery that is truly worth it.
02
A True Active Luxury Trek
By day, head out to glaciers, alpine lakes and ridges; by night, return to carefully selected mountain-view villas and four-/five-star SPA hotels. Where you stay can be part of the journey too.
03
In-Depth Stays in Two Core Bases
Chamonix + Courmayeur: in-depth stays in two places, so there is no need to pack your bags and change rooms every day. Slow down and take in the rhythm and character of each town.
04
Deliberately Designed "Blank Space"
Free time is built in throughout the trip. D5 is a full rest day in Italy: no changing rooms, no rushing. Hot springs, wineries, paragliding, or simply sitting in a corner café waiting for dusk. Sometimes the most memorable day is not the one when you walked the farthest.
05
Only Small Groups Offer a Real Experience
We stick to boutique small groups of 6–8 people. We can take our time over lunch at a mountain hut, wait at the best spot at Bonatti for the golden glow on the peaks, and adjust how much hiking we do along the way.
06
A Complete Ending to the Journey
The last night is spent on the shores of Lake Geneva in the small town of Vevey, easing gently from mountain grandeur back to the civilized world. A farewell dinner, the lake at night: a complete farewell that lingers after the journey ends.
07
It's All About the Experience
We believe that what is truly worth remembering is never a completed route, but the string of moments you create along the way. Any day could become an image you still recall years later.

Itinerary

Trek LocationChamonix, France

  1. Day 1 | Arrival in Chamonix · Welcome Dinner · First Glimpse of Mont Blanc

We meet at Geneva Airport at 1 pm and travel by private vehicle into Chamonix. After checking in, stroll through this world-famous Alpine snow-mountain town, or sit for a while in one of the many cafés lining its streets and catch your first distant glimpse of Mont Blanc. In the evening, at the welcome dinner, your Chinese-speaking experience leader will lay out the route map for the next 8 days. The journey begins here.

  2. Day 2 | Above the Mirror of Lac Blanc: Mont Blanc's Reflection

Today is the most iconic frame of the entire route. We take the Flégère cable car up into the high mountains, then pass among the needle peaks and along ridge trails to reach Lac Blanc (2352m). The lake reflects the whole Mont Blanc massif, as granite, snow and ice, and water meet in a single picture. Lunch is a picnic by the lake, and in the afternoon we return along the Grand Balcon Sud. This is where the TMB starts to look most like a film.

  3. Day 3 | From 3777 Meters to the Glacier: Crossing Aeons in a Single Day

The cable car goes straight up to Aiguille du Midi (3777m) for a 360° view of the peaks of France, Italy and Switzerland, with Mont Blanc almost close enough to touch. We then descend to the middle station and begin hiking along the Grand Balcon Nord, looking down over the Mer de Glace glacier all the way. After reaching Montenvers, you can visit the blue ice cave, then ride the little cog railway back down. This is the most awe-inspiring day of the whole journey: the timescale of the glacier and the scale of a human being, placed in the same space.

  4. Day 4 | Crossing Mont Blanc: From France to Italy

Today a private vehicle takes us through the Mont Blanc Tunnel, and we officially cross from France into Italy. Entering the Val Veny valley, we follow the trail to Lac Combal and Rifugio Elisabetta. The lake quietly mirrors the needle peaks, and the refuge at the head of the valley shines like a lamp at the end of the world. This is the first high point of the journey. You can enjoy a drink at Elisabetta before heading back.

  5. Day 5 | An Italian-Style Rest Day: Truly Giving Time Back to Yourself
    A whole day deliberately left free: this day belongs to you, and we will plan it around your choices. You can choose to visit the QC Terme open-air thermal baths and let your body unwind between the mountain breeze and the warm water; or try paragliding, gliding between clouds and mountains and looking down over all of Courmayeur in the freest way possible;
in the afternoon, you can go for a tasting at a high-mountain winery, giving the afternoon over to a gentle glow and the scenery at an old wine estate at the foot of Mont Blanc; or simply sit down at a corner café and wait for dusk to settle slowly over the mountains. Sometimes the day most worth remembering on a trip isn't necessarily the one on which you walked the farthest.

  6. Day 6 | The Bonatti High Ridge Route: Golden Light on the South Face

This is the absolute highlight of the entire route. In the morning we take the cable car up to Plan Chécrouit to start the day's hike, following the Mont de la Saxe ridge with the south face of Mont Blanc on your left and the ice walls of the Grandes Jorasses on your right, the whole ridge completely open. In the afternoon we reach Rifugio Bonatti, where you can have a beer or a coffee, take in the view of Mont Blanc's south face and watch the light shift and change. For many people, this moment is what makes it the most worthwhile day of the TMB.

  7. DAY 7 | A Foot in Two Countries: From Italy to Switzerland

The most symbolic day of the journey. Up on the pass you stand on a real national border: on one side the rugged glacial rock walls of Italy, on the other the soft green valleys of Switzerland. At midday we picnic on the Grand Col Ferret pass as the wind blows between the valleys of the two countries. In the evening we arrive in the small town of Vevey on the shores of Lake Geneva, as the journey moves from the grandeur of the high mountains to the calm of the lakeside. For the last evening we have arranged a special farewell dinner: amid the shimmering lake and the night, we raise a glass to the journey we have walked together and say a proper goodbye to the companions who shared the way.

  8. DAY 8 | Morning Light in Vevey · Farewell

The last morning is saved for Vevey's quiet lakeshore.

Morning light falls on the surface of Lake Geneva as the distant mountains, vineyards and little town slowly wake in the light mist. Take a slow walk along the lake and think back over every scene of this journey, from the snowy mountain trails to this lakeside town. After breakfast we check out, and we will arrange for you to experience a Swiss train ride to Geneva Airport, or you can carry on to the next chapter of your own European travels. The train glides slowly along the lakeshore and through the vineyards, and the shimmering lake, distant mountains and terraced slopes passing outside the window feel like the journey's final, gentle farewell.
